A contemporary residence in Guzape, Abuja , conceived around a double-height great room with full-height glass walls and a lighting palette built entirely on modern 0-10V fittings. The client required precise control over every light source in the property, natural and artificial, alongside an audio experience that could hold its own in a vast open volume without a single visible speaker.

Lighting control was delivered through a Lutron Homeworks QS system specified for its ability to handle the 0-10V dimming protocol natively and to manage the property's large motorised blinds via Lutron Sivoia QS. The result is a single unified system that governs every light source, every shade position, and every scene across the property from one interface.Whole-home automation was handled by Control4, providing the client with consolidated control of audio, lighting, shading, security, and access from a single app.

The double-height great room presented a specific acoustic challenge — volume, glass, and hard surfaces create conditions that defeat conventional speaker placement. Origin Acoustics in-wall full-range speakers were specified and positioned to deliver even coverage throughout the space without clustering, powered by Apart Audio amplification across distributed zones.
The integration of Lutron's lighting and shading systems onto a shared Homeworks QS processor is not the default approach. Most installations treat shading as a separate system. Doing it properly with shared scenes, coordinated daylight harvesting, and a single point of control requires the system to be designed as one from the outset. At GMA Residence, that meant every lighting scene accounts for blind position, and every blind preset is tied to a corresponding light level. The two systems behave as one.
